Deacon's 1st Word

The winner is.....

DEACON

Yes - he is saying his own name. Mimi heard it and told me and I just thought maybe something he said sounded like it. Then Justin got home and was playing with him and he said it again. Jus said "he said Deacon!" I was still skeptical. So this morning when I dropped him off at daycare I told the teachers and kind of laughed and they said "We know! We heard him yesterday and forgot to tell you. He said it a few times" I asked if it was broken up like "dea....kin" or what and they said he said it all at once "deacon". HA

Perhaps we say his name more than any other word!

Once we catch it on video I will post it here.

Donuts with Dad

Today is Donuts with Dad day at Deacon's school. Justin wasn't able to make it since he has Kids Day at his work. Kids Day is a big deal there and he is really involved with all of the activities. So I took a few pictures of Deacon with his donut and sent them
to Justin.

Give it to me!

Funny story - Deacon was pulling at Mimis tea glass last night at dinner, so I gave her my water cup instead. She gave him a sip and he was immediately hooked. He acted like it was the best drink he had ever had, although when it comes out of a sippy cup he wants nothing to do with it.

When she would set the cup down he would immediately scream and hit her until she gave him more. It was quiet funny - although if it continues we may have to have a talk about not hitting.

Deacon's New Mommy

When I saw Deacon right after I got my hair done he starred at me for a while like he was trying to recognize me. I had to keep saying "Hi Deacon, its mommy!" HA

Its Finally Deacon's Turn!

The daycare has the cutest buggy called the "Bye Bye Buggy" that they use to take the babies around in. I've always looked forward to seeing Deacon in it but when he started daycare I was told that they changed the age to 7 months before a child could be in it. They wanted to make sure the child could sit up and ride safely. I was dissappointed but understood the logic. Well, today is Deacon's 7th month birthday and as a treat, he got his first ride in the buggy! His teacher sent me a picture:

Its so fun to see him get to experience new things like this. I love watching him grow up right before my eyes. He is such a beautiful little boy (inside and out) and is the joy of our lives!

Deacon's New Stuff

I had no intention of throwing Deacon a 1st birthday party with tons of expensive decorations and novelties. I figure we really didn't need to have a party until he was older, right? Lately I am thinking (thanks to Kristen, Ashley, Kim, Alicia, Elizabeth and Jessica) that I need to do more than I had originally planned.

Imagine my excitement when I walked down to Deacon's daycare class and saw these Handy Manny tools! I was told I could have them so it looks like we will have a "theme" party after all :) They made all the tools for VBS this week and don't plan to use them again. Now I just hope none of the kids mess them up tonight or tomorrow.

Houston, we have more teeth

Deacon broke another tooth today. Its the top left one and the top right one should be in today or tomorrow I'm sure. I can't believe how fast he is getting them. Pictures to come...well, if he ever sits still long enough.

Happy Birthday Party

Today Daddy and Deacon went to Cameron and Samuel's birthday party. I was home sick. Justin said that Deacon had a great time with his cousins and everyone at the party.
Here is a picture of Deacon and Grandma.

TGIF! Kind of

I was so sick yesterday, I didn't think I would ever feel that bad. Until today...I feel worse. I guess its not "that bad" but when you are sick, you usually feel like this is the worst you have ever felt, right? But I need to feel better, and soon. Today my oldest niece, Paige, graduates from high school. I'm so proud of her. She is a very smart, talented, determined young woman with amazing goals for her future. She will be attending a culinary school in August in hopes of becoming a Pastry Chef. (Hey Paigey - Deacon will need a cake for his 1st birthday!) After the graduation we have a dinner planned for her at Los Tios.

Saturday is our nephews' birthday party. Cameron will be 5 and Samuel is 2. I can't believe they are growing up so fast. I remember meeting Michelle for the first time when she was still pregnant with Cameron.

So here's to feeling better, high school graduates, and little boys that are growing up!

Another formula update

I have no formula update because Deacon is no longer on formula. It lasted 2 weeks and now we are done with it. I'm so excited! The Reglan is working wonders for me and has enabled me to retire the short lived formula buffet.

Deacon's New Ride

We bought a 2009 Ford Flex this weekend. Now Deacon will be safer and look cooler :P The Flex comes with a third row of seats to accommodate a growing family (no, I'm not pregnant again).

This is what Deacon is sitting in while in the new car:

He has outgrown his infant seat and is now in a convertible. When he turns 1 year and 20 lbs (he'll hit that weight requirement well before he is 1 yr) we will be able to turn him around so he is forward facing. Its sad to see him grow so fast but some of these milestones will be great to hit. I can't wait to be able to see him when I look in the rear view mirror.
