Amazing Grace....

I know this post may sound a little melodramatic, but I don't care. I have never liked the song Amazing Grace, ever. Its so slow and it drags on and on and its widely over used. I've sang it my entire life in church. But now, as of yesterday, I can connect to it in a whole new way. More of that in a minute...

Several weeks ago I decided to talk to Justin about me getting Lasik. Whenever I brought it up Justin told me no and that I needed to wait until we could afford it. I understood and just left it alone. However, I decided to pray that God would make a way for me to get it and He would change Justin's mind. I'll skip the details of how I was told I would probably never be able to wear regular contacts again and the part where we could suddenly afford the surgery and get to the part where I tell you that I had Lasik yesterday and I can see perfectly.

So now when I sing Amazing Grace and I get to the part where it says "I once was blind but now I see" I can totally relate. I was really scared to have the surgery, I mean really scared. Like so scared I cried as soon as I walked into the prep room and practically begged for the Valium asap. During the two step process of the surgery I prayed non-stop, mainly thanking God for the technology He had given us and the opportunity to be able to see again. But also praying for my nerves, the surgeon and all involved in the process. Each step took less than a minute and the very second the machine turned off I was able to see better than I have in the past 15 years, Thank you Jesus!

So if you are considering Lasik all I have to say is that YES, it is scary, YES, it is pricey and YES, it is so worth it. If you can push past the fear you will be so glad you did.

Oh, and for what its worth, if I would have stayed in contacts we would have been spending a little over $60/month for the rest of my contact wearing days. Lasik came out to be much cheaper in the long run :)
