Since its been about three months, I figure I could so some kind of update. :)
So far this year:
We went on a family cruise. This was fun but oh.so.much.work! I can't say we will jump back on a ship anytime soon - wait, I take that back, we will be getting on a much smaller version of that ship in June when Mark and Jennifer get married. However, Deacon will not be with us and we will not be staying the night (or 4 nights) on a boat.
I turned 30 - whoopee! I had a surprise party and all - it was so.much.fun!
Deacon has peepee'd on the potty. Yep - at 17 months old he brought me the potty chair while I was watching TV and after I undressed him he sat down and tinkled :) So adorable!
He has started using more sign language. He signs MORE, MILK, EAT, PACIFIER, BIRD, HELP, PLEASE, BATH, DADDY, MOMMY, CHEESE, and something else that is totally slipping my mind at the moment. Its the sweetest thing to see his little hands communicate so perfectly to us. He picks the signs up really fast, when he is paying attention :)
And by God - he is still the most adorable thing that has ever walked the face of this Earth (spoken like a true mom, hu?). No explanation necessary - you've seen him, you know!
This weekend is Mother's Day and a day that has always been so hard for me - up until the last two years. Two years ago I was pregnant, last year I had a 6 month old to love on and cuddle with and this year I have a very active and fun 18 month old toddler to wrangle up! This weekend we are celebrating my mom and granny on Saturday with steaks and all the sides and Sunday we are celebrating Justin's mom Janie with hamburgers on the grill. Hmm, makes me wonder something, when will Justin and Deacon squeeze in time for all my pampering? breakfast in bed, flowers all over the house, a nice warm bath, a peaceful nap, a fun day spent in the backyard in our new pool (er, kiddie pool that is) and some food grilling on the bbq followed by a fabulous dessert of Tres Leches or Pineapple Upside Down Cake or Italian Wedding Cake. I'm sure he will make it happen, after all - Father's day is quickly approaching. :)
So that's all I have for now. For more updates and Ferguson ramblings you can always check out our other blog here: http://familylifein2010.blogspot.com/

Zumba
i have a good friend that goes to zumba and loves it. when she told me about it my first thought was that it would be too hard, too fast, i am too uncoordinated and i would be too uncomfortable. for those of you unfamiliar with zumba - here is what wikipedia says about it:
i decided that losing this last 15 pounds was just too hard for me to do alone, so i bit the proverbial bullet and went to a zumba class by our house. the first class is free so i figured i had nothing to lose. i could go and try it and if i hated it i never had to go back. i pictured it to be crowded and filled with skinny 20somethings in tights and sports bras showing off their 6 pack abs and tight little bottoms. however, when i got there i was pleasantly surprised! the instructor is 53 and in amazing shape and the ladies that go to the class are so friendly and none of them are younger than me :) i don't know why but that really makes it more comfortable for me. the class starts off slow so you can follow along easily and then it picks up as you go. mitsi, the instructor, is so great and really helps you enjoy the class. when the hour long class was up the first thing i did was pay for two more classes! you don't need to be coordinated, a good dancer or in shape to to it so i fit right in. :)
since then i have told my friends (yes, you guys reading this blog) and family about it and am trying to get everyone to try it at least once. the hour flies by and by the time the class is over you are exhausted and hot and sweaty and ready to sit down but - before you do all that, you pay for more classes. its that fun! i found online that zumba burns over 500 calories a session and helps sculpt your body. who doesn't want to burn calories and have a firm, sculpted body?
so if any of you want to hang out on monday or wednesday nights from 7:30 - 8:30, you can find me at zumba!
"Zumba is a dance fitness program created by dancer and choreographer Alberto "Beto" Perez in Colombia during the 1990s. The program combines Latin and international music with dance in an effort to make exercise fun. Zumba classes are offered through licensed instructors in more than 50,000 fitness center locations in over 75 countries.[1] DVDs are also available for learning at home. Classes and instructional DVDs use music based on salsa, merengue, cumbia, reggaeton and other international music styles and forms."
