Happy Birthday Deacon Elwood!!!

Today my baby turns one. Can someone please tell me how a year had already gone by? As I type this blog my sweet boy is in our bed sleeping with his daddy. At this time last year (6:45 am) he was fighting to come into this world. I was in hour 46 of labor, I believe by this point I may have been ready to kick everyone out of my room, Justin was feeling sick laying on the couch and the doctor was giving up hope of a birth without a c-section. In the end I couldn't agree more with a c-section and was practically, um, actually, I was definitely begging for one. Within minutes of being in the OR I had started to wondered when they would begin and then in a split second I heard a noise that sent me to tears, a noise I would grow to have a strong love/hate relationship with, the most beautiful noise I could have ever heard....MY CHILD was crying. God is Good, God is faithful, God is STILL in the Miracle Working business, and God answered my many, many prayers. I'd like to reintroduce you to Deacon Elwood Ferguson, my miracle:

THEN....AND NOW....

Deacon was born on 11/11/08 at 11:13 am. He weighed 8 lbs 3 oz and was 21.25 inches long.

What?!?! Its for me?

Tonight we went to my mom's house for dinner. While we were there I said "I know this is silly, but I really wish there would be an early birthday present on our porch when we get home. I'd love for Deacon to get a gift in the mail". Well, lo and behold - ask and you shall receive! There was an amazon box on the front porch. I got us in the house as quick as I could and grabbed the box, it was addressed to Deacon. YAY. I opened the outer box and pulled out the box inside and this is what happened:

"Here Mom, let me read the card and tell you what it says""Mommy, its for me and its from Andy, Jessica and Noah!!! Can I open it mom, please, can I, can I, please, can I? It's my first ever birthday present, don't make me wait mom!!!"

Deacon got his first set of Legos!!! I'm sure daddy will be thrilled when he gets home. He use to play Legos for hours (or days even) and he's excited to show Deacon how to build things. Maybe we should get Justin his own set?! Deacon seems to love them already - he's walking around carrying the little Lego man and has already deposited several pieces throughout the kitchen.

Thank you so much Andy, Jess and Noah. We love the gift and you made our day! Sorry we didn't wait to open it, we just couldn't wait another few days. :) We love you guys!!!
