Yep, you read that right, we have a Drama King on our hands at home. We are trying to transition him into his crib, in our room. Some nights he does great, then there are nights like last night. It was horrible - horrible I tell ya! This is how it went...
Mommy held Deacon and got him to sleep and gently placed him in the crib. *STOP* - quick side note, this is all Daddy normally has to do to get him to sleep in the crib for the night.
Deacon started to stir immediately so I patted his back until he was fast asleep, like a little angel. I went to bed. About an hour later he began to fuss so Justin said he would handle it. Well, for 45 minutes Justin tried to calm him down. He patted him, gave him a pacifier, talked to him saying it would be ok, pat, paci, talk, rinse, lather repeat. Finally we agreed to just leave him to cry, I mean, that's what everyone has told us to do anyway. He cried...and cried...sat up, banged his head and cried some more. I comforted him back to sleep, placed him in the crib and he screamed his head off. I finally left the room and we listen to him cry for what felt like an eternity. After about an hour and a half (from his first cry) we gave in. Justin went to check on him and he was in a froggy squatting position, holding onto the rails with his head smushed into the crib bumper, the bumper was drenched in tears, sweat and snot. We picked him up and put him in bed with me and he was fast asleep within less than a second.
So, if you are the score keeping kind it looks like this:
Deacon - 1
Parents - 0
We shall compete again tonight - but this time mom and dad will play hard ball.
Ack, it's so hard! They're so persistent aren't they?!
ReplyDeleteOMGosh, that's pretty funny, and sad, too. He wants his momma and daddy!! Poor baby. Poor momma and daddy!
