Here are the journal entries from the babysite (http://www.babysites.com/sites/babyjferguson/). The are oldest to newest. After I finish adding them I will start blogging more regularly about the current adventures with Deacon :)
Our 1st Appt
Date: 04/22/2008
Our first appt with the OB is Monday. I'm very interested to see what it will be like. I've been so used to specialized treatments that I won't know what to do with a regular doctor. :) Every time I went to the RE I got an u/s and that will not be the case anymore. That's fine with me though, since I have a doppler at home (thanks to Cindy) to listen to the heartbeat anytime I want.
Everything is going great with the pregnancy. No morning sickness, no major complaints really, I do get headaches a lot and I am getting pains from all the stretching, but other than that I am fine. I'm ready to start feeling the baby move around and definitely ready to find out the gender!
Our First OB Appt
Date: 04/29/2008
Our first appt with the OB was totally uneventful. I was weighed, had my bp checked, heard the heartbeat and gave a lot of blood. There was some trouble at the front desk when I tried to schedule my may appt. My dr was already booked so I can't get in until June. I'm kind of bothered by that so I started thinking about changing clinics. I was referred to a place in the Woodlands, which would obviously be easier since its 7 miles from my house. I made an appt for May 22nd with this new OB.
Child Bearing Hips
Date: 05/05/2008
I have been experiencing some very uncomfortable back pains and tail bone pain. I just assumed it was from how I was sitting or my inactivity for hours on end at work. But as I was reading my pregnancy journal this past weekend it all became increasingly clear to me. At week 12 (which I was in last week), your body produces a hormone that causes your hips to spread, allowing the baby to be able to fit through your pelvis during birth. This spreading causes back and tail bone pain. Hmm...well no wonder! This also makes me think that this hormone is the culprit to the Child Bearing Hips that are so often spoken of.
My First Mother's Day
Date: 05/11/2008
It has finally happened! For once I have enjoyed Mother's Day and not dreaded it. Saturday evening we had a great time at our house with my side of the family. We had more food and dessert than we knew what to do with. I got cards and gifts and enjoyed every second of them :P
On Sunday we went to church at Oak Forest. I actually sat through the whole Mother's Day service without crying (actually, that's not true. But this time it was a good cry and not a sad cry). Afterwards we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house (Justin's parents) and had lunch and hung out. It was really relaxing and a lot of fun.
I can't wait for Father's Day now. I know Justin doesn't get as excited about it as I do, but I think he should still enjoy it.
Dr Appt
Date: 05/14/2008
Our next appt was going to be on Thursday, May 22 but after a painful week it has moved to tomorrow, May 15th. Baby J is really a pain in the rump...and I don't say that lightly. He/She is not only causing me daily headaches but now I have tail bone pain and A LOT of it! I have trouble getting comfortable when I sit down and lay down. I also have constant pain when I walk. I'm hoping that tomorrow the new OB can help me in some way. Pain pills that are safe for the baby would be wonderful :) If I could be high and pregnant at the same time without risking my little one, how great would that be. LOL (just kidding for all of you that are now thinking that I'm serious).
According to the fetal development calendar, little Deacon/Claire is 4 inches long. So, for all of you that are judging me by my ever expanding waste line, that's why I look so big (CHRIS!). I'm gained between 4-5lbs in the past 14 weeks.
Oh, for those of you that haven't left a comment on the guest book, which is all but three people, please do so now :). I'd like to be able to keep track of who views the site and I would like to show it to the baby some day.
I'll update the journal once I finish my appt tomorrow.
Appointment Update
Date: 05/15/2008
I had my first appt with my new OB this morning. He spent 45 minutes with us just talking. They put my due date at Nov 22, which is 12 days later than it should be. (putting me at 12 weeks instead of 14, although with IVF I know that 14 is accurate). They are waiting for my old OB to send over my records before they set it in stone. I'm sticking with the original date of Nov 10th though.
They did an u/s just to be nice and the baby was dancing all around. He/She spread his/her legs several times but the gender could not be determined. We didn't see anything, which my mom thinks that it means its a girl. But there wasn't three white lines either. I go back in three weeks for my usual appt and then in three more weeks for the gender scan. He won't do the gender scan before 20 weeks (although he looked today b/c we told him we know its a boy :P )
I asked about my headaches and he sent a Rx over for the same thing my old OB gave me, minus the codeine. He said he doesn't give the one codeine but I should be able to take this one sparingly. And then he said its not my tail bone that is hurting, its my sciatic nerve I was hoping that wasn't the case. He showed me and Justin some stretches that he wants us to do everyday. He also said to try heating pads and warm baths.
We got to see the feet really well and the face.
Where has the time gone?
Date: 06/06/2008
I can't believe its been nearly a month since I have updated the site. Today I had an appt at the OB. Nothing huge to report. My weight is up, like that was even a question anyways, my blood pressure is fine and our baby's heartbeat is 147. According to the old wives tale, anything below 150 is a boy....so we'll see. We will find out the gender at the end of this month. YAY!!!
IntelliGender
Date: 06/11/2008
There is an over the counter test out there on the market that claims to tell you the gender of your baby. As early as 10 weeks you should be able to know what you are having with a simple urine test you take at home. Well of course, I'm up for any fun little test there is (especially when someone buys it for me) :) The test will turn green if its a boy and orange if its a girl.
So this morning I took the test. Anyone have any guesses what it said? Well if its right, and I am right about what I THINK I am having...we will have a BOY in November!
Anyone want to change their ExpectNet guess based on this little test? It has a 80%-90% accuracy rate.
We'll find out in a few weeks how accurate it is for us. Until then I will enjoy seeing Justin be this excited.
Its a Boy!!!
Date: 06/20/2008
We had our big ultrasound today. It took the dr nearly 30 minutes to get Deacon to uncross his legs but he finally did. We have a DVD of everything. We saw him yawn, cover his face and lay very still with his legs crossed. Looks like he has his daddy's laid back personality. :)
A month has passed
Date: 07/22/2008
Its been a month since my last journal entry. I feel like I don't have anything to add because nothing huge happens in one day. But there are a several small things I could write about each day I'm sure. Like, for example, Deacon knows how to do a somersault. He flips and flops all day long and I feel it every time. He also likes to kick me a lot. I can feel it from the outside too. Justin has felt it once but usually as soon as he gets his hand on my every growing belly, Deacon decides to take a break. I bet Justin thinks I'm lying about the kicks :) Its the coolest feeling ever. I feel him all day while I sit at my desk at work and sometimes on the way home. Then before bed he gets restless again and I can usual feel him moving for a while.
He definitely enjoys the bounciness of my bladder, that's for sure. He has found this new "trampoline" and uses it regularly for entertainment.
In other news, we have purchased the outfit to bring him home in and its so adorable. Also, Deacon got a nice gift from Aunt Karen and Uncle David. They bought him his dresser which will double as a changing table once we have the pad to put on it. You can see pictures in the nursery album on this site.
I've gained about 24lbs so far and am praying my appetite will subside a bit so that can slow down. But in all honesty, I can't help it. When I am even the slightest bit hungry I feel like I have been through a 40 year famine and I have to eat everything I can get my hands on. That doesn't happen very often though, only about 4-6 times a day ;) I can now say that I eat more than Justin in one sitting and I eat more often than him too. That makes for a sore sight at the pool next weekend, ha!
Before I go....Justin edited down our 20 minute ultrasound and put it on YouTube. Check it out when you have a minute and let us know what you think! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eir9FiMLle4
