Ear Infections are the Pits!

Deacon got a double ear infection a few weeks ago, before his 4 month appt. We started him on amoxicillin and when we went back he was all clear. Within a week or two I took him back in because he was fussy and running a fever of 101.9 and it was another ear infection. We started round two of antibiotics with erythromycin and that lasted 10 days, ending on Saturday. Shortly after the last dose Deacon started to cough. He has progressively coughed more and more so I took him back to the pediatrician today (man, do I pay their salaries or what?) and you'll never guess what it is....EAR INFECTION! UGH....will my baby's ear ever be better? He has fluid in his ears that is not drying up. We started him on azithromycin for the next 5 days. I pray this clears it all up so he can get back to feeling like himself again.

I asked the dr if ear infections can be hereditary, since I had tubes put in my ears at a young age and Mia just got them recently. She said the infections aren't but the structure of the ear is and people with a lot of ear problems have small ear canals, or something to that effect.

Weight: 15lbs 13oz.

  1. poor d! :( jenn, you should look into a chiropractor. my old boss had a little boy who had ear infection after ear infection as an infant. she started bringing him to a pediatric chiropractor for it and it worked!
